IS IT REALLY SO STRANGE

right so i haven't written in this blog in like a week but i promise it isn't because i've given up on it or anything, i've just been steaming clothes all damn day.  today i wrapped up the fashion market part of my summer, leaving me exactly twenty eight hours to get my shit together to leave for vermont (not an exaggeration: i leave before dawn for the airport because i'm a cheapass and booked a flight for six).  bread loaf starts officially sometime wednesday afternoon.  i'll be in edward hirsch's workshop (so crazy! how is stuff like this possible!) and i've been re-reading special orders the past week in preparation. i've also been dipping into dean young's first course in turbulence - i'll get around to checking off that sidebar soon enough - which is bizarre and incredible and totally inspiring, and makes me wonder exactly which state i left my modern art textbook in two years ago when i dropped that art history class.  it's bizarre having half a home in a half-dozen places.  storage sweet storage.

anyway i've made a major blogging gaffe, i think, by cavalierly smacking my full name on this blog (a ha ha, see what i did there) and then letting the whole thing slide right into the google search results. i swear to god i looked at the little tick box that keeps search robots away from your blog and thought NO THIS IS A PUBLIC EXPERIMENT THE POINT IS PEOPLE INTERFACING WITH YOU. like seriously? oh no wait, i totally forgot, i WANT total strangers to get an idea of the lurching, loud fracas in my head even before they meet me and have to deal with that shit in person.  i'll make lots of friends with my newfangled BLOG filled with my IMPORTANT THOUGHTS.  hay guyz let's interface!

anyway i've taken my name off it and checked that little box now -- but if you google my full name, you'll still find this, thanks to the handy cache function.  (you'll also find a youtube video of me shaking it in my friend's dining room post-scrabble.  but that's really beside the point.  though i guess this blog is the verbal equivalent of laura & bri's booty dance.)  so if you're a future employer, a former teacher, a long-lost friend -- well, i'm sorry.  we all hoped i would turn out better than this.  maybe there's still a chance i'll end up in advertising?

took the GRE last tuesday, which was less of a disaster than i expected (720 verbal, 630 math), and now i'm thinking hard about maybe taking the GRE lit.  i'm looking at a few mfa/phd programs, or variants thereof, and they all require that subject test -- which will apparently eat up a good 3 months of your life with studying to get a good score.  i might just stumble into it after a flip through my norton and see what happens.  that's probably the easiest way to blow $140 ever, but between my thesis and statements of purpose and my part-time job and oh yeah my other thesis and wait, my physical education requirement (no shit), i just don't see the time materializing.  but i kind of have to make that happen.

oh and the boy left for his home country again yesterday. which deserves a lot more than an aside, but that's what you're going to get.

okay, back to watching phelps dominate, like, everything.
