ON SMALL DISASTERS

on the mfa (cold) front: michigan and minnesota have apparently notified all their poetry acceptances. two down, seven to go. though illinois started calling pre-awp, so i could probably assume that's flown as well. feeling pretty nauseous at this point, also pessimistic: when i look into my future, i see hats. lots of hats. joining the tiny league of failed poets turned haberdashers.

otherwise, status quo. i hate that all this is putting a damper on my writing. i came to the library to work on a poem and instead refreshed the mfa blogs (i'm developing a twitch in my index finger). refresh, refresh. just one acceptance. i can't go to more than one school - i'd just like to go somewhere.

ETA: i guess iowa's calling today too? holy god.

(this is nikkita from TSE) In an ideal world we're both at the top of the wait list, two people accepted for some reason decide not to attend, and we'll both be in Madison next fall and drinking tea together, the best of friends. :) This is driving me crazy though! This is the only news I've heard so far. Good luck to you.

god, i hope so! (your blog is super-cute by the way - you love zachary schomburg & pushpin christmas trees? amazing.) fingers crossed for both of us. i was just on another girl's blog who was accepted to wisconsin - as well as a number of other places - so i'm definitely not giving up hope yet!

nice blog. i'm subscribing.

I've talked to several people recently who got their MFAs from schools where they were originally waitlisted. This gives me hope! But, you know, a well-tempered hope that won't kill me if it doesn't pan out :)
