OK SERIOUSLY GUYS

i am writing an essay in the middle of JULY in the PUBLIC LIBRARY because the classics department at edinburgh lost my course essay and gave me a re-sit to do without realizing that it's the middle of JULY AND I AM WRITING ABOUT HOMERIC GODS.  or more accurately not writing about homeric gods thanks to the p&w speakeasy.  i feel like i need some kind of blinking sign around my neck: TOTALLY USELESS.  every now and then i toy with the idea of applying to phd programs in straight-up, hardcore english lit and then i realize that if classical literature 1a is putting me on suicide watch, it's probably a pretty bad call.

on the plus side a nun just sold me a cafe mocha in the lobby.  complete with a 'god bless you child' when she handed me my solo cup.  it's like my boy's story about shrink-wrapping cds for nine hours at his internship: midway through a stack of oversized alt-folk, a floppy dog runs through the office and starts licking his hand and no one else looks up.  it's like, have i shrink-wrapped myself into having hallucinations? is sister americano just in my head? anyway now i have to go to the dentist with coffee breath that may or may not bring about miraculous cures for gingivitis.  after i fight my way out of troy.

(by the way, final mfa application list: michener, virginia, illinois, iowa, houston, oregon, vanderbilt, wisconsin, michigan, minnesota, washington.  reasons for excision: cornell is out because i think i want a slightly bigger program, though it may be back in for the mfa/critical phd combo; indiana & notre dame are out because of silly intuitive reasons and because i can't really see myself (a) in indiana or (b) at yet another catholic school.) 

(also i'm taking the gre next week. so expect another frantic post in like two minutes.)
